I have a small suspected lung tumour which is going to be dealt with via keyhole surgery soon, taking away a section of my lung. I am interested to hear from anyone with experience of this particularly recovery times after lung surgery and what is life like when you have lost a bit of your lung? I have young children so I'm hoping
I won't be out of action too long!

Hi, my mum had her left upper lobe removed for early lung cancer in 2010. She had open surgery for it as they wanted to move all the lobe. She recovered quite quickly and was home within a week.
She has found her breathing has been a little worse at times and she is prone to chest infections which she wasn't before.
She is 81 now and otherwise in great health and the Tumour doesn't seem to have returned.
She still drives, goes abroad does all the housework.
She smoked until Jan 1980 when she was 44 she had smoked since a teenager.
Good luck.

Thanks. It's nice to hear she has remained cancer free since her operation. I am only 39 and smoked briefly whilst at college but am not a smoker. I get chest infections anyway so I'm a bit worried about that.
