Any blood experts, nurses or doctors?

Gave blood last week and had a more in-depth look at my printed form than I usually do.... Bit confused.

Printed at the bottom is "A POS C+ E- c+ e+ K-" I know the A POS is my blood group but what do the other bits mean?

Also it says CMV POS which Dr Google tells me is positive for Cytomegalovirus - nobody has ever mentioned this to me through three pregnancies, numerous blood donations and various surgeries so I am assuming this is nothing to be concerned about?

They are the rhesus factor phenotypes. nothing to worry about

So kind of sub categories of A+ blood? Would they use that info then to match my donation to someone with the same markers?

Yes, exactly that.

Thank you :-) Would have asked the nurse but she was rather busy and didn't want to hold up other donors.

CMV is super super common and unless contracted during pregnancy doesn't mean alot 😊

Cmv is super common and they remove it from your donation if given to pregnant or chemo patients
Nothing else to worry about
Thank you for donating I was a chemo nurse for years and you are helping save lives!!

Having done some reading it sounds as if I've probably had CMV since childhood. Was just a bit surprised nobody has mentioned it, ever, but it's obviously not an issue.

Giving blood is really very easy - no idea why more people don't do it. And our local centre has an awesome selection of snacks for when you're done.
