This is the 3rd time in months I have had it. First time I had antibiotics which got rid of it but it came back a few weeks later so I had some very strong antibiotics which got rid of it.

Now it's coming back again, I can feel a stinging sensation when pee. Does anyone have any remedies to get rid of it? It's getting me down now Sad

I feel your pain. I used to struggle with it daily but I've got a tried and tested system now!! I take D Mannose all the time. 2x1000mg tablets every night before bed. I make sure I drink plenty too and I definitely avoid alcohol and specifically drinks with slot of sugar in. I can have a little but not huge amounts as it seems to aggravate it quite quickly. I also pee religiously after sex. I can never manage before and after so I figure that after is better for flushing stuff out and just do that. Even if it's just a trickle. I also feel your pain with the lower back cramping. I was terrified it was a kidney infection, but every time I've had it and been checked out it just seems to be a symptom of the whole issue for me. Do mention it to the docs if you don't improve though.

If I do have a flare up (which typically used to happen Sunday dinner times!!) I second the bicarb/water trick and then lots of water to help flush it. Another trick I found helpful was to take something like bicarb or those cystitis sachets in a pint of water, then try not to pee for at least 20 mins, preferably up to an hour. It helps give your bladder chance to recover from the horrible stinging/cramping that happens when it's bad, and gives chance for the bicarb/ powder to get down there and start soothing you from the inside. Paracetamol, a warm bath and a hot water bottle between your legs helps too! Oh also they used to give me trimethoprim which eventually ended up doing naff all, so now they only prescribe Nitrofurantoin for a week or I just end up back again two days later.

Be careful with the medicated soap. It's not necessary and may give you thrush by reducing the good bacteria in your vagina/ vulva. Unperfumed soap or just warm water is enough.

Hi, if the ABs are not resolving the pain, I would push for a referral to a consultant urologist - and specifically one who specialises in the female bladder. I had this a few years ago and after 4 rounds of antibiotics I was still in pain. I researched a good consultant who did a cystoscopy and it turns out I had had a uti which had cleared leaving scar tissue which was what was causing the pain. I had a quick procedure to remove the scar tissue and all was well. Hope you get well soon - cystitis is truly awful!

I used herbal based tablets from Holland and Barrett, think they had dandelion in. Whenever I felt a bout coming on I took two tablets and they flushed my system out. After a few times it didnt reoccur, def worth a trip to a health food store.

Apparently quite a lot of people are intolerant to some of the chemicals in wine. If I even have a glass of it now I feel like I've drank acid and will be pissing out razor blades. White wine, prosecco and champagne are the worst culprits. Beer can be iffy too. The only alcohol I'll touch now is gin and tonic (and an occasional cocktail) and my bladder is so much less painful

I always go to my GP for urinary issues where I can't pinpoint a cause. Even if your wee was clear last time it doesn't mean to say that it still is.
Too much citric acid gives me cystitis, sometimes nuts give me cystitis.

I took a low dose of cephradin for several years continuously, prescribed by a urologist for chronic Pyelonephritis in my twenties. Prior to that I had suffered from recurrent cystitis for a number of years.

I would always drop a urine sample off for testing and have a packet of nitrofurantoin in my cupboard, prescribed for if I can't get there quick enough.

Mannose D is amazing. I buy it on Amazon and make sure I always have some in. At the first twinge I take some. If you're really prone, I would take it everyday. I always take a pot on holiday - nothing worse than cystitis when you're away.
