Pins and needles

For past 8 weeks or so I have had pins and needles and numbness in my lower left leg and right side of my face. My arm was numb and tingly too but it seems a bit bettter. I mentioned it to GP as it has happened before and I was previously told it was a migraine after hospital admission and checks for TIA. He doesn't agree in migraine diagnosis and has referred me onto neurology.

It will no doubt be a while till I am seen so can anybody advise on any methods of coping with the constant numbness and tingling? Is there a way I can stop it? GP offered no advice or help other than referral on to neurology.

I tried accupuncture but lady just gave me a sympathetic look and advised me to chase my appointment up. Nothing she could do

Thank, my B12 levels were checked and are very good apparently. As were all my other blood results.

I just need these pins and needles and numbness to go away. They are making it hard to concentrate, walk and even writing at work is getting harder

I know someone who had this. The simple explanation was the "casing" for her nerves, which protect them, were deteriorating leading them to get more easily trapped and bent and squished. She had to have an operation which left her scarred by her elbow and on her palm.

Have they investigated physical causes such as that, as opposed to chemical/vitamins/etc?

Sorry I ignored your main question, no advice for coping sorry, just rang a bell in case you don't have an answer.

Thanks. No real investigations. First diagnosis was TIA later downgraded to migraines. GP now saying not migraines as numbness wouldn't be constant.

I called hospital to chase neurology appointment and should be seen within next 8 weeks. Think will call GP for advise if I can get a telephone appointment
