When toddlers 'cry out' in their sleep, rather than 'cry', do you go in to them?

Or do you leave them be?

God, I WISH mine only cried out.
And on the odd occassions he does, hell no

pregnabrain · 03/04/2007 23:13

hello

I always leave mine for a bit. I'll haul my exhausted old carcass out of bed only if the pitch of the crying changes to 'there's no way any of us are going to go back to sleep until you come and see me'.

I'm lucky, though. Most nights she sleeps through with no probs.

lol

Ds has been crying out a lot tonight, but not crying iyswim. Wondered if I should go and do more than just peek around the door.

I wouldn't personally, but my kids are very very good at crying in the night, & would make it abundantly clear if they needed anything !
If it's usual for your dc, I might just creep in check he hasn't got a temp/stuck/lost his quilt etc etc etc.
Sleep well!!

It depends on the age etc. When dd was smaller I'd probably take a peek at her. Now she's going on 5 I know that if she needs me she'll yell 'mum!' in a particular voice. Often she mutters my name, and other stuff, in her sleep but doesn't need anything at all.
