On wed night I had a bought of d&v (move d but felt very sick), it passed quickly, I spent the next day feeling drained but recovered quickly, last night it happened again, the worst bit is the stomach cramps I am getting (slightly to the left of my stomach). I'm trying to think if there's anthing a ate the same on both the days I was ill but can't think of anything. I haven't eaten anything high risk, as far as I know I haven't been near anyone who has been ill ( and my kids have not come down with it ). Looks like I will be spending another day under a blanket in pain and unable to eat Sad. Do I go to the gp tomorrow or do I assume to a bug and just ride it out?

If you're still the same tomorrow definitely see your GP.

Lovemusic33 · 03/09/2017 15:37

I think I will make an appointment in the morning. I'm so hungry but foods going straight through me Sad, I don't feel like I have a bug, feel tired but not ill as such.

Can you do regular life things, like drive a car or check your bank balance or take a shower?

cedoren · 03/09/2017 15:58

I've got something similar at the moment. I've just assumed minor bug or food poisoning - it takes everything a while to settle down.

IIjkk, I have been shopping today but felt like a zombie, the pain eased off but since being home it's returned and I've been back on the loo. I haven't lost my appetite, have been eating bland things but I'm so hungry so just had something to eat knowing it probably won't be long until I'm on the loo. Other than feeling tired and a bit drained (probably from being on the loo half the night) I don't feel really ill.

I don't think I'd bother a GP with that b/c it sounds like it will sort itself within a week, anyway, and you can still get basic stuff done in mean time. Hope you feel better soon.

Lovemusic33 · 04/09/2017 18:52

Still glued to the loo. Thought I was feeling better, cooked a meal for the first time in a week, kept it in for an hour Sad.

My dm has colitis and I worry I will get it at some point, I had tests a while ago but all came back clear.

My experience of colitis is that it kind of creeps up getting gradually steadily worse so this doesn't sound like colitis, probably a stomach virus of some kind.

Ollivander84 · 04/09/2017 18:58

I would hold off the GP. I had norovirus type thing for 72hrs, it was grim but it did pass. Small sips of water, dry toast, bed

Migraleve · 04/09/2017 19:08

It wouldn't even cross my mind to see a GP for that, certainly of the pain was crippling or if you he been puking for a week straight I would say yes, but tbh this doesn't sound like it's likely to be anything. What would you want the GP to do?

Lovemusic33 · 04/09/2017 19:14

I will hold off for a few days then. I rarely get tummy bugs, when I do it usually lasts a day, 2 at the most and I feel awful. I don't feel ill with this other than being a bit tired, I still have my appetite and no high temperature. Just doesn't seem like a bug.

Sounds very similar to the stomach virus I have just had. Every time I felt better and ate (bland foods) I went back to having stomach cramps etc. It took about a week to feel back to normal and I was very careful what I ate for about 3 days after that. I would wait a few more days before seeing a GP (as long as pain isn't excruciating and you have no other symptoms of something serious, e.g. fever).

Lovemusic33 · 04/09/2017 19:50

On the plus side it's a great start to my 'post summer diet'. Hopefully things will improve in a few days. I just hope the kids don't get it as the thought of having them at home any longer is just too much Grin.

Could you ask at your local pharmacy? i usually do if i dont think its serious enough to see Dr,
They seem to know as much or more as Drs sometimes, but will tell you if they think it should be Drs appointment
Ask for the actual chemist though, not just an assistant
