Hello,

Does anyone have any ideas about howI can help my my dd (aged 4. 5 y o)? I'm at a bit of a loss really...she has had a nasty bug that came on last Tues and is still not much better. She's been on anti-biotics since WEdnesday.

She is eating v. little (so far today just one mini flapjack bar) but drinking loads of water and some milk. She keeps saying that she has aches all over her body and that walking or running makes them worse. So she's been snuggled up on the sofa a lot, very lethergic and just wanting to watch tv or sleep. SHe is sleeping through the night but still v. tire during the day. She's got a nasty cough and her temp was back up last night (not sure what to as our thermometer is broken - need to get a new one!)

I'm just worried because normally she's v. active and loves sporty games so it's so out of character fr her to be lolling around on the sofa all the time!

Emotionally she's v. fragile and clingy - I sent her upstairs earlier to get a top and I herard her crying at the top of her voice - when I asked what was wrong she said "I don't like going upstairs on my own because I feel lonely".

Any ideas? Ds's childminder, who is fab, said it sounds like it could be a flu ytpe bug. I'm not sure whether I should phone the docs again or leave it another day or so then see how she is.

Thank you!

I would phone the doctors again. Real flu can last for two weeks and is far worse then a cold. Might be worth thinking about vitamin tablets in the long term?

Thanks Belgo - I've put her on Minadax (multi-vits) so hopefully they will start to kick in soon.

the flu can lead to complications - so I think you should phone the doctors. Also the flu is viral so antibiotics won't help unless there is a secondary bacterial infection.

yes, I will give the docs a ring. She seems a bit brighter than she did this mornig but even so.......

thanks!
