Any advice on how to stop your milk? My son is 21 months and we are 24 hours into the end. My boobs are huge swollen painful and full of milk. Should I drain them? Any ideas? Smile

When we stopped breastfeeding at 2 1/2, I was very lucky because by that point mine didn't fill up anymore!

My mum used to put cold cabbage leaves down her bra to stop the pain when her milk came in, as she didn't breastfeed.

I would say don't pump anything as it will just refill. But try the cabbage leaves for pain 😊

Be prepared for hormonal changes too - there's no info on the stopping of bf - especially extended bf - I had all sorts of hormonal issues that took a few months to calm down

Oh my god yes!! I had been on the pill since 8 weeks PP and when I stopped feeding, that month I had my first period since having DD. So it had been 2 1/2 years without... it was the worst period I've ever had, I was rolling around crying from pain. Definitely get supplies in - just in case!

Yes, you can still get mastitis if you don't. Just express enough off to lessen the discomfort at regular intervals.

Ooh yes I remember I looked like Katie Price! I did the cabbage leaves overnight, no idea if it worked but I did express the tiniest amount in the shower just to relieve the pressure. It soon settled down, I stopped at 16 months and was only down to one feed a day.
