Had LLETZ on Tuesday, waiting results, anyone about for handholding /advice ?

Had LLETZ Tuesday, found it really unpleasant and was very sick and nearly fainted. So Dr didn't really discuss anything with me after (I wasn't really in a state, was taken to another room to be monitored)

Anyway, these things are playing on my mind
-she wasn't sure how bad it would be, said she just wanted to take a look and then might do LLETZ- then once she had looked she said she "definitely" wanted to do it ?

  • she didn't tell me anything after about what she had seen, I guess I was groggy etc but is that normal? Hunting around on Internet and seems some people are given an indication of likely severity on the day?

I guess I didn't really think about what the procedure would find until it was over. Was scared just going back to the women's hospital (I have severe birth trauma/PTSD from daughters birth). I hadn't even looked into what the procedure might entail, so it was all a bit of a shock - had assumed I would be well enough to work later the same day

Just fretting know, I guess I don't know how worried/relaxed to be!

Hello Never in my experience the colposcopy team have always been incredibly supportive and provided helpful information, maybe you could call the team that performed your lletz procedure? Wishing you all the best.

Results in my area take about 6 weeks to come through.
I felt a bit wobbly for a couple of days both times I had it. Go easy on yourself. When fm had the procedure twenty years ago they kept you in for the day.

Is it normal to still feel poorly 4 days after LLETZ? Tried joining in with a walk with step kids today and ended up so tired and nauseous I've spent the rest of the day in bed Sad

Could be an infection maybe?

Hello, I had Lletz in 2007 and was all fine. Hand hold if you need one it's a scary time xx

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/09/2017 21:42

I know I remember it well. I could not concentrate on anything during those weeks. I wasn't given any indication whilst I was having it done of the results, had to sit it out for a few weeks.

confusedandtired2017 · 02/09/2017 21:44

I do remember feeling rotten for a number of days after so think that's perfectly normal

dertyyuoih2 · 02/09/2017 21:51

Hand holding coming your way...
I had lletz last year (June) and crapped my pants for a good few weeks awaiting the results.. the results were CIN3, removal however not total- then that the cauterisation would probably get rid of the rest.
Jan this year clear smear! Yay! However smear was so so painful and have lots of scar tissue.
However would take that any day over cancer.
I remember it being painful at first for a few days, then that letting up. But the worrying is the worst, I found talking about it helped. I then realised how many people I'd worked with who had had it?!! And it made me feel so much better hearing their stories!

dertyyuoih2 · 02/09/2017 21:53

Is their any smell? I think if you have tummy cramps after 4 days that it could be an infection. Dig your leaflet out as I am sure there about it

NeverTwerkNaked · 02/09/2017 22:05

No smell; no blood just a little watery discharge. don't have a fever. No cramps. Just feel totally drained!

Derty - second what you say about talking about it, I was amazed how many people said either yes I've had that or my sister, friend, aunt etc has. Makes you feel much less scared. All the stories I heard were positive outcomes because the whole testing and catching things early, including Lletz is a proactive approach to the worse case scenario.

NeverTwerkNaked · 16/09/2017 22:20

Just dropping in for a quick update Smile ... finally had the results and no need for hospital follow up, just back to GP in 6 months so am very relieved.
Also finally starting to feel a fair bit better, but it took me a good couple of weeks to recover. That may have just been because I lost quite a lot of blood during the procedure and after though.
