Original MMR research link?

Hello everyone. I am sure this information is on here somewhere, but I was just wondering whether anyone could point me to an intelligent, yet intelligible, article that clearly explains the original research on the MMR/autism link. Plus the best source of current impartial thinking on this.

I was feeling fine about DS getting the MMR until my Daily Mail reading mum got me worried again.

TIA!

I went onto the Lancet website ages ago when I was wondering whether to give DD1 the jab. I found the original article - search for Andrew Wakefield papers. I read it (I have a biology degree so was interested anyway) and it totally put my mind at rest. The science is dodgy to say the least, and with the revelations that he was allegedly accepting research funding from lawyers representing the parents involved, it does throw an interesting light on the subject. I happily gave DD1 the MMR jab, and will do the same for DD2 when she is old enough. If you can't find the paper then CAT me as I think I still have a copy and can scan it for you. Basically, the media have twisted the conclusions to scare parents. Wakefield himself says that he could not find a link between MMR and autism or the gut disease he was investigating, he just says more research is needed. His study was based on about 12 children btw!

Thank you - I will do that now. I thought I remembered hearing that the research was pretty flawed.

Look for posts by JimJams.

I can tell you now that I didn't vaccinate my DS with the MMR due to her. I felt she answered alot of the questions that I had.

However, I think that he should have it now at 4 years old.
