Just that really. Both dh and I have come down with a horrible sickness bug, non stop sickness, aching limbs, can barely move. We tried to push through but physically couldn't. Dmil dropped what she was doing and came to our aid. She took dd3 and dd 5 weeks, back to hers. Both girls are not poorly. Mil bless her heart said she would have them over night if needs be, my question is, is 5 weeks too early to sleep away from us? I just feel so bad. But on the flip side we can barely move...

You need to do what you need to do. She's loved, looked after (and please don't take thus the wrong way, but probably looked after better than you and your DH could manage right now) and hopefully you've stopped her bring seriously ill in a way that could be really dangerous for a 5 week old.

I hope you feel better soon Flowers

BertrandRussell · 29/08/2017 17:55

She'll be fine. She's being looked after by someone who loves her.

thesleepsheep · 29/08/2017 18:24

Thank you. I fully trust her, am lucky to have such a good mil. Just feel guilty!

Don't feel guilty! Flowers It takes a family /Village to raise a child (or to step in when the shit hits the fan...)

Your MIL will bite her own arm off to make them feel comfortable - they will be fine!! honestly!!

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 29/08/2017 18:44

And you need to make the most of it and get well x

thesleepsheep · 29/08/2017 18:59

Thank you Flowers I know you're right. Just feel like I'm missing a limb!

Don't feel guilty we were so ill when DC3 was a few weeks old but was breastfed so couldn't farm her out!

Brakebackcyclebot · 29/08/2017 19:02

No! Do not feel guilty! You are reducing the chances of your DCs catching your bug too.

Bubblysqueak · 29/08/2017 19:03

I had my dn when he was 6 week's old for a week as my dsis had swine flu and was unable to carr for him herself.

Applesandpears56 · 29/08/2017 19:46

You are protecting her from catching it too
But 5 weeks is very young and I would feel the same

cleowasmycat · 29/08/2017 19:47

Was in own room from day 3. She is very strong, healthy beautiful 9 year old now.

Applesandpears56 · 29/08/2017 20:02

Cleo that's sad - you missed out on a great bonding chance.

cleowasmycat · 29/08/2017 20:35

Not sad at all! We couldn't be closer. She slept well as did I. Her door was next to mine so I could hear her anyway and I had a monitor.

PotteringAlong · 30/08/2017 06:56

Much better thank you! We've both managed some toast and apple, and the sickness has stopped. We didn't wake up til 10am! Most sleep we've had for 5 weeks Grin DDs are fine, we've just picked them up, oldest was glad to have had a sleepover and chocolate spread on toast for breakfast! 5 week old was good as gold, woke for one night feed then slept til 730! Thank you Flowers

Chocolate spread on toast for breakfast! The very thing that grandparents are made for Smile

Glad you're feeling better.
