How to bring high BP down safely

Weight loss/ stress management are goals over time - is there anything else I can be doing that will help in the short term? Would like to get it as low as poss before next gp appointment.

Yeah I don't mind taking the meds if they are necessary - my mum has been taking them for 40 years - it just makes sense to get as much else under control as I can. Clinic has booked my appointment for test results anyway.
