Just back from Tuscany and suffering big time. Seem to have about 30 bites and some are bleeding and swollen. Am taking a lot of anti-histimines.

15y DD suffered really badly last October in Ibiza. Arrived late, delayed, went out for dinner without thinking about sprays and coverage = bitten. Her entire legs were bright red and swollen with several very large bites.

We went to the pharmacists over there and got some much stronger anti-histamines- for night time she took the drowsy formula which knocked her out fairly quickly) and also some decent strength steroid creams (we got it OTC but dh gets same one at home on prescription) to apply directly to them.

We got some bites in Florida this summer and again - anti histamines and steroid cream.

However, even then it still isn't a quick fix, and they do remain somewhat itchy - but it does help.

I may go and get some cream tomorrow. I did use the repellent sprays but seems to have made no difference.

If they're unbearably itchy then heat up a teaspoon in hot water and then press it onto the bite for as long as you can stand it. This stops the itch receptors or something from working. It really works. Careful not to burn yourself tho.

Was also about to suggest taking antihistimes. It's the only thing that saves me when I get attacked Sad

Get some serious deet! I use the strongest Boots sells and it works.

Jungle Formula Bite and Sting Spray is fantastic stuff. I always swear by it for getting rid of the itch straight away. If any of them start to look funny, betafusin is a good antibiotic cream.
For future preventative measures, use unscented shower gel, don't wear perfume, and moisturise with Calypso After Sun with repellant.
