Me!
I had a laporoscopy 2 months ago to remove two endometrioma cysts from ovaries. I'm now pregnant and had an early scan this week and my cysts have already returned, I'm gutted x

Hi congratulations on your pregnancy! I have a 6cm one on one ovary and a couple of smaller ones. How big were yours? The doctors have said they don't want to remove it as it could be stuck to the ovary which would result in oophorectomy. I had it when I became pregnant with dd so I'm not really sure if that's what causing an issue with me getting pregnant again.

I had one that was 10cm and the other was 2cm. They told me I'd likely have an ovary removed too, but they managed to save it.
I'm surprised they said they don't want to remove yours?

I couldn't wait to have mine removed, they caused me so many problems.
It's 3.5 years since we started TTC with only one miscarriage to show for it, then after my laparoscopy, I got pregnant first month trying! Looks like the cysts really were the cause of my infertility.

Just hoping this pregnancy is successful. Now that my cysts have returned, I'll be devastated if I MC again, and end up infertile again.

How far gone are you? The consultant I saw said because I got pregnant naturally with the cyst at the same size as it is now then it doesn't necessarily need to be removed to get pregnant again. They are saying because of the risk of loss of ovary that could cause more complications. I do understand that but I'm not really even sure how long it took me to get pregnant with dd- years really and I'm now 36 so don't want to hang about.

I'm only 6 weeks. Miscarried at 12 weeks last time, so keeping fingers crossed that this one sticks.

Your cysts may not need to be removed for you to get pregnant but I thought that anything over 5cm was advised to be removed due to risk of ovarian torsion?
When my consultant told me that there was a high risk of my ovary being removed he reassured me that the remaining ovary would continue to ovulate each month and wouldn't hugely impact fertility. However, I guess it all depends on egg reserve?

Are you currently trying for another child?

Ooh I also have my fingers crossed for you. I remember at my 12 week scan having separate scans of the cyst and worrying it would affect the baby in some way. Have they said why the cysts have returned? What ovarian torsion? I have been getting more twinges and pulling sensations than previously so I think I'm going to push it a bit more this time. I'm currently under a new consultant as I moved area and am waiting to do the 'blue dye' test. Something I've never been told to do before so maybe things will be different this time. Yes been trying for another for about 3 years.

Ovarian torsion in when the cyst causes the ovary / fellopian tube to twist on itself, cutting off blood supply. Obviously the bigger the cyst the more likely this could happen, hence why cysts are often monitored / removed over 5cm.
I never had dye test of anything like that. Is that through private healthcare?

I would definitely push for them to be removed. My symptoms just got worse and worse, to the point where I was uncomfortable every day. I was constantly bloated, would get shooting pains down my legs and it was just such a worry. The day they were removed I felt instant relief.

I think my cysts have returned so quickly because I'm pregnant. Hormones are to blame. I'm in a vicious cycle of pregnancy causing cysts, and cysts causing infertility.
