My Mum is not great with doctors and medical appointments but has had several visits to ophthalmology because of vision symptoms (eye floaters etc)
She's received a letter and when she spoke to the GP about he she was told that she's "going blind".
She doesn't know what's going on and not being great with doctors I'm not sure if she really wants to know. Could someone please tell me simply what's being described here so that I can talk to her about it, she's sent me the letter through. Googling the individual terms isn't giving me an overview of what is happening.
"Diagnosed as perivascular retinal sheathing in the left eye without having any underlying aetiology. No new symptoms. Vision 6/7.5 in both eyes. It does seem that she has advanced retinal blood vessels due to posterior vitreous detachment. She has a flat retina in both eyes. We will see her back in nine months."
I sort of understand vitreous detachment in layman's terms.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I will make sure I go with her the next time she is at ophthalmology.
