Do you spend any time with people who are in "at risk" groups?

Lauralou69 · 22/08/2017 16:11

Yes, my mum but she has flu jab.

I think cochrane review agrees with you...

Mittens92 · 10/09/2017 22:38

I never have and I never will.

The flu jab isn't about protecting you, it's to stop you passing flu onto someone vulnerable who might choose not to have the vaccine themselves and might be seriously ill if they got flu and cost the NHS a lot of money treating them.

I have the jab every year. I have had the flu before and never again if I can avoid it.

Only those in an at risk group qualify for the jab. If it was for everyone them everyone would get it?

SidesofFeet · 11/09/2017 22:32

Walking, I agree however doesn't sound like op is in at risk group.

RE Flu jabs, im not in a risk group and normally fit and healthy. Over recent years i have had several bouts of really bad flu. During the so called swine flu epidemic i suspect i had it as doc even told me not to come in surgery. My day to day work is with the public, in and out of homes etc. Last year i pad for a jab at Boots. I didnt get Flu last year. This year im debating whether to get it again. There are two versions around this year, a 3 strain and a 4 strain version.

I am just wondering how common it is for those not in at risk groups to pay and get one or is it just paranoia on my part??

SweetChickadee · 19/09/2017 18:09

I'm in Canada and everyone here over 6 months is offered it for free, and we are very much encouraged to have one by the health people.

DH and I are fit and healthy and we have one every year. Real flu is bloody awful and DH doesn't get sick pay
