Has anyone had laser eye surgery to correct long sightedness?

Hi

I am in my early fifties and getting increasingly long sighted. I can't go anywhere without reading glasses now and literally have them on my head all the time in case I need them. Am seriously considering surgery since recently discovering it's actually an option. Has anyone had this? Who did you use? Did it work?

The person I know who had it done still needs reading glasses as it doesn't correct that iirc.

Having gone with her to appts and seen the waiting room full of people with red eyes who could hardly see and them all moaning about it not being how they say on the adverts,no I wouldn't have it done! Can't remember who it was with as it was a while back but it was a reputable place, she'd done her homework.

I have had it done yesterday but I'm short sighted. It was very sore yesterday and a little tender today but I can see perfectly. I can't remember ever being able to see this well and I only got glasses at 19!! I know they've said it won't prevent my eyes deteriorating naturally so long sightedness with age, but it might be different if you already are long sighted. I'd say it's definitely worth finding out.

Look on line at reviews of people who have had trouble after having it done, then decide if it's still something you want to risk. Also be prepared for the fact it might not work at all,it doesn't with some people.

You'd be better looking at clear lens exchange, with a multi focal implant if you didn't want to use reading glasses. Personally I'm not convinced that MF implants give the best vision.

Thanks everyone. Oh dear, I was hoping to hear some success stories and recommendations. I thought it was too good to be true!

You are developing presbyopia not longsightedness, as the lens inside your eye is no longer able to focus as you get older. If you really wanted to be glasses free you would need refractive lens exchange with a multi-focal implant. Laser surgery does not correct presbyopia
