Aaagh my eyes!
Can anyone shed some light on my recurring eye infection?
It's not the eyeball itself that hurts but the skin all around it, eyelids and just below the brow on BOTH eyes. I'm scaring small children.

Have used antibiotic eye ointment and that worked before but isn't touching it now. I have no idea what I'm starting to react to or why it's come back. I'll even add a photo for your viewing pleasure.

I would call 111 and get advice about that, especially if it feels hot and infected. If it is cellulitis it needs urgent treatment.

Oh gawd. That doesn't sound pleasant. In the meantime I might be forced to pull my eyelids off.

I've just got a similar eye infection. It has now spread to the other eye & is highly contagious. My DD has just had it for a week. The Dr said it was viral conjunctivitis & the over the counter drops won't work as they are antibiotic & are for bacterial conjunctivitis. I've got some steroid eye drops & tgey seem to have helped. I am in Australia but I expect you can get steroid drops in the U.K but they are only on prescription.

Ah that might explain why it's not working. I'm outside the UK too but I will get along to the doctor I think. I'll tell the small DDs it's a school holiday outing.

Look at your lovely eyebrows.

Does the eye hurt?

Pposters, thank you the answer was steroids and antihistamine drops. Hopefully all will be well in a few days. I'm trying very hard not to Google steroid side effects.

The steroid drops were amazing. I had so much improvement within a day. It did spread to my other eye but not as bad. I am almost better now & back to work.
Hope you are better soon.
