Feel something moving in my leg

I'm 10mo EMCS. Recovery has been slow, but I feel mostly well.

For the last few weeks I've felt like I feel something moving in my left leg. It feels sticky, like a blob is moving through my veins in my leg and foot.

I feel like I've got pins and needles more than usual in the same leg (and had times when it's completely - and I mean COMPLETELY- numb). But

My first thought (of course) is DVT, but I don't know how much I'm imagining/overthinking because I'm focusing so much on one limb. My leg isn't swollen or hot or bruised...is this worth a doctors visit, or is it something innocuous (trapped nerve? Back issue?).

Worth a visit, surely? I don't know anything about it, hopefully someone knowledgeable will come along...

noodleaddict · 14/08/2017 22:17

I'd get it checked out.

PacificDogwod · 14/08/2017 22:19

Does not sound like a DVT.
More likely some kind of nerve irritation.

If you are worried and/or it bothers do, get it checked out.
Nobody can diagnose anything on't'interweb.

Pacific I think the likelihood of DVT is slim to none, but it feels kinda freaky (and unnerving). So it's nice to hear other people say it's unlikely, even if you're not trained medical professionals. I kinda hope someone will say 'go to the osteopath and you'll be fine'.

I'm a bit cautious about going to the doctor because I kicked-up a big old fuss at the doc a few months ago over a lump in my abdomen (which turned out to be a badly healed CS wound, not, as I feared cancer or a hernia), but I was VERY insistent that I should have a CT scan (which I did, which showed it was basically nothing that physio wouldn't heal).

I don't want them to think I'm a malingerer (nb: that's the only time I've been to the doc for anything other than the pill or eczema cream in several years).

Yes doc visit. Was emcs 10 months ago? What makes you think it's connected?

LaCerbiatta · 14/08/2017 22:40

Don't want to scare you but my dad just had a pulmonary embolism and he says that before he felt the clots move in his leg. It could well be his imagination thinking back., but keep it in mind and don't ignore any other symptoms

kingfishergreen · 14/08/2017 22:41

Frazzled that's a good question, I guess I just added it for context. But following the CS I was defined as high risk for clots (age and blood loss) and had to self inject blood thinners for six weeks, so maybe I was subconsciously thinking about that.

Cerbiatta I hope your dad is okay!

This is my fear, it's just so hard to know if it's a nerve thing, me massively blowing it out of proportion, or something more dangerous.

I guess re: doctor:

  1. I'm not an actual malingerer, there will be far more malingering people than me, and

  2. Even if they think I'm a massive hypochondriac, you can't really take risks with your health

I've had multiple DVTs (and PEs) courtesy of a clotting disorder, and this doesn't sound like one. I've never had the experience LaC's dad described. I did have definite pain - at some points severe pain - in my calf, the leg felt 'hard' and at its worst it was making me limp. Now, all that said, as medical advice will tell you, DVT can be symptomless. But it could be plenty of other things like nerve problems. And my clots have always got to that painful point well before a couple of weeks has passed. So my (non-medical) feeling is it probably isn't DVT, but you should get it checked out. Book a GP appointment as a starting point.

thebigbluedustbin · 14/08/2017 22:56

DVTs, of which I have had several (thanks genes!) do not feel like they are moving. The opposite, in fact.

Go to the doctor. It's what they're there for.

kingfishergreen · 15/08/2017 11:04

I've made a doctor's phone call appointment for Friday (I didn't even know a phone call appointment was a thing). I think that'll do as there's nothing to 'see', it'd just be me in the doctor's room describing what it feels like whilst pointing at my normal-looking leg.

Shake and bigblue Jeez, I'm sorry to hear about the DVTs/PEs, frankly terrifying, thanks for your words of reassurance and I hope you both keep well!
