cervical biopsy & related info please

I was asked to attend a clinic for a biopsy following abnormal bleeding & the GP having a look & saying that my cervix looked like it had scars as if I'd had laser treatment on it - I haven't. I was given an appointment within 2weeks & have been for the biopsy. I'm waiting for the results.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this experience? I never had the cervical cancer jab as I'm 50 & they didn't do it back then.
I've also never had an abnormal smear although the last one was over 2 years ago.
Wondering if anyone else has been sent to the gynaecologist without an abnormal smear or because of the way the cervix looks/abnormal bleeding.
Thanks in advance

Hi, Did they say if the biopsy was fast tracked for results (3-5 days) or whether you'd find out in a few weeks?

I had abnormal bleeding and what they thought was a cervical erosion and had an investigation and biopsy. They told me the results were being fast tracked and I knew then. I think they had a pretty good idea when they did the biopsy and saw the area before they got the results, hence the fast tracked answers. 3 days later I was diagnosed with cervical cancer. I did have an abnormal smear at the time of the bleeding so a bit different. I've had full treatment and been clear for 2 years.

I wouldn't worry too much unless they gave you reason to feel worried. I could tell they were giving me warning shots before the true answers came back.

No she didn't say anything about fast tracking, so maybe it'll be ok.
Sounds like you had a rough time of it though, very pleased you are clear now.
Seems to be something that a lot of women experience & seem to get treated for quite quickly. Thank you for your reassurance.
