palpitations keeping me awake

Does anyone have any remedy suggestions? I get strong palpitations in my neck (sometimes whole body!) for hours at night especially around my period. I've read that's it's probably hormonal but they are now so strong that it's stopping me sleeping - not great with a busy job and two kids! I haven't been able to find any advice about anything that could ease them apart from exercise (which I do) and cutting out coffee and alcohol, which hasn't seemed to make a difference. Help - any advice? I want to sleep again!

Make sure you are not drinking coke either, even diet coke. I get this especially when l was begining menopause. I found sleeping on my right instead of left helped. Also l had a full heart screening which showed no issue and a healthy heart. I then chose to ignore it saying my heart is fine. Its not an easy sensation but seems to be regular for some people.

Magnesium supplements helped me. 250mg tabs from Holland and Barrett.

Best of luck, palps are awful.

I could have written your post. For me I exercise and avoid alcohol. It's that along with a combination of trying to ignore it at that time of the month which doesn't always work especially at Bed time.

I saw a cardiologist once who said they settle down once you reach 40's..so only five years to go!!

Thank you all for your advice! I'll continue to cut down on caffeine and I've just bought some magnesium tablets (I hadn't heard of that before) - hopefully it is a case of 'growing out of it'!
