Any tips on dealing with this/him?

He manages ok during the day but at night the pain really kicks in. He's wearing a tennis elbow brace at all times, trying to rest it but OMFG he's a pain in the wotsit at night. Has to sleep sitting up with arm on pillows, Waking up to take painkillers. If he does lie down the snoring starts....... I've said he needs to keep dosed up on ibuprofen to help with the inflammation and then double dose at night with cocodamol.

GP has said the only cure is rest which tbh is in short supply!

Exhaustedly yours Confused

Hate to tell you this, but I ended up having surgery on mine. Years of pain, tried all the less invasive options (including moaning incessantly).

Surgery worked a treat - am now 2 years pain free. It's not needed in every case obviously, but just in case you were thinking it'll just tail off...it might not!

Seperate bedrooms or go on the couch or whatever. He is in pan, you can't blame him for that but you can get some sleep yourself.

Pan=pain

Isn't the cure physiotherapy? I thought it was caused by an imbalance in the muscles , tendons, etc in the arm through doing one repetitive motion.
I am not a medical professional however. Maybe get him an appointment at a physio.

My husband had a steroid injection in his elbow and the pain went away the next day, it's just starting to wear off after a few months but he can go back and get another when he needs to.

Wrigglytoes - was he able to self refer for the steroid jab?

The gp did it for him at the surgery, told him just to ring up and book in again when he needed another one.

Usually, I'm all in favour of natural cures, but GP recommended the jab, though warned me that is was a bit uncomfortable. It worked like magic, especially compared what it had felt like. He warned me, though, to stop doing whatever I was doing that caused the hurt, as after the second jab, it became a lot less effective.

I cut back a lot on playing and spent some time with a coach, who eventually worked out what i was doing incorrectly with my racquet. Hitching up my shoulder on that side so the arm was always in tension. All been fine since i relaxed and stopped doing that, oh that and the jab, too.

I've got a terrible case of tennis elbow at the moment so I understand why he's so grumpy!

I'm wearing a support band thing and doing exercises but it's so painful.

The pain is worse at night and I have to take painkillers through the night. I'm due to start physio in a week or so and I really hope it works.

I had tennis elbow last year, bloomin painful!!

However it has been "cured" with 8 weeks of INTENSE physio - including manipulation, exercises (built up each week), and infra red lamp treatment. Would pay for private physio - the NHS are pretty hands off nowadays and just photocopy an exercise sheet.

Tennis elbow is very painful! Mine went when I started a course of steroids for another condition.
