I'm scared believing I have MS

I am 29. I suffer the following symptoms: burning prickling in my face, crawling sensation down my arms/torso/legs, eye twitch, pins and needles, high anxiety.

My mum has autoimmune disease.

I see a neurologist for chronic headaches. Last saw him in June. I've not had an MRI but he checks my reflexes/strength/tone and that was fine. In November I had a full eye test which was fine.

Can MS develop rapidly? I'm petrified.

Have you had a full blood test to check your vitamin/mineral levels? B12 deficiency can have similar symptoms. It could also be anxiety symptoms.

I had very similar symptoms and also was scared it was MS. It turned out to be an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). This is usually auto-immune. I would recommend having a look on the thyroid Uk website.

The burning face is scaring me now. No redness or rash. Skin looks normal. My gp said to take antihistamine which hasn't touched it. Both sides of my face.

I'm crying in the dark so I don't wake my daughter who has snuck in. I'm petrified.

I'm clearly not a hcp but have had many similar symptoms. Mostly now all gone. I had a form of polycythemia (lots of different types, don't google as you'll find the worst ones!) which is when you have very thick blood with reduced oxygen in the cells (stupidly non medical explaination of mine). Mine was brought in by extreme stress and exacerbated by smoking. The stress cause is now gone and I stopped smoking. Blood returned to normal and felt much better within a couple of months.

I have a few residual issues that I am seeing neurology for soon but all in all much better.

My gp was exceedingly thorough and had me having every blood test going, ecgs, sent me to a&e for second opinion, neuro tests, spoke to stroke consultants etc. Speak to your gp. There can be many many causes for your symptoms.

Even anxiety itself can manifest itself in thesr symptoms and ends up being a vicious circle..

Try not to worry and get seen asap and have everything 'simple' ruled out.

It was the face tingling out of all the horrible symptoms I was having that finally got me shifting to get seen.
