Raised Eosinophil count

Took 13 year old dd to doctors recently as she has been feeling tired for several months.
He ran some bloods and everything came back normal apart from low folic acid and a higher than normal Eosinophil count, he has suggested referring her to paediatrician and after googling I have freaked myself out!
He asked if she was allergic to anything or had recently had worms, has had neither.
Although she has mentioned that she sometimes wakes up with a bit of a sore throat but that disappears mid morning.
Her brother has recently been diagnosed with a mould alllergy-aspergillus and am worried if both are connected to a recent water leak that went undetected for a while, could she also be reacting to that or could it be more serious?

If it was something more serious usually there would be other symptoms too - does she bruise easily/a lot for example?
I'm not medical but I understand eosinophils are allergy/asthma related hence why your dr was asking. Think worms cause as well.
Does she snore a lot? Maybe that could be causing dry throat?

No haven't noticed any bruising and she has mentioned any.
Don't know if she snores, her bedroom is on a different floor to mine.
Just concerned about hospital referral!

It's a good thing - they'll get to the bottom of it and sounds like they are just being cautious to me

He is a very cautious doctor seems to refer on if any doubt, so hoping its just that.
Already having a worrying time with her brother who is undergoing tests with the paediatricians too!

My dd had exactly this - she had some investigations done as a result of some other issues & this was the outcome. We were referred to a haematologist who ran dozens of tests but nothing really came back - we had repeated blood tests for a couple of years but the decision was that the count was just normal for her. I think without other symptoms you shouldn't panic too much...
