Exhausted, but cannot sleep

Hi

I was just wondering how I could get some quality sleep?

My df passed away about 2 weeks ago, so everything is up in the air. Lots of things to sort and falling on me as I'm currently not working.

I'm completely emotionally drained/exhausted from it all. The funeral is next week, and we I have made lots of the arrangements as my dms English isn't great. My db works, but lives with dm.

I went to bed for 9, and couldn't get to sleep til after midnight, then woke at 4. And couldn't sleep after that.

I want to find some relaxing techniques as I'm really tense too.

I understand it's because of the stress mixed with grief, but all I want is some sleep Sad

Hi, didn't want you to feel ignored. So sorry for your loss.
I haven't much advice except to say that you seem to have identified the reason for the lack of sleep. So hopefully it will be short term. In the meantime I have always tried not to stress about getting back to sleep when I am laying awake. Instead I think that at least I am resting so my body is benefitting. I also have a sleep app by Andrew Johnson which often gets me off to sleep. Nytol has also worked for me in the past. Good luck and try to look after yourself...it is a different and difficult time.

Oh thank you.

I forgot about Nytol. I'm seeing my doctor at the end of the week about something different, so might mention to them about my lack of sleep. Last time I mentioned lack of sleep they weren't too helpful, but hopefully it'll be on my notes.

I do wake during the night anyway, and can be awake from an hour to 3, but can drift back off.

I'll have a look at that app too Flowers

I find 'the most fascinating' videos in YouTube quite helpful for giving me something to watch, (but being a bit boring, and therefore sleep-inducing) quite helpful.
Do try to get some sleep, but if you can't, see your GP.

Oh you poor thing OP. Sorry for your loss.

No tv/internet after 9pm (I need to stop now), the lack of screens make a HUGE difference. Try to make time for either a bath or milky drink before bed, whatever you associate with relaxation. It's not directly related to sleep but I use the Buddhify app to meditate some evenings and I'm sure I sleep better when I do.
