I heard someone talking about a fecal continence aid. I want to find out more about it, but don't know how to spell it and can't find it on Google.

It sounded like 'Q-fora'.

Do you know what the name actually is?

It is something like Qfora. It's basically a diy colonic irrigation kit.

That's it, thank you.

Any experiences?

Yes, but you're supposed to use it every day and it takes about an hr every day and then I'm not convinced I've got rid of everything or there's water still in my colon iyswim so still feel scared to leave the house....it wasn't for me. Peristeen is similar but sends water further into your colon. Feel free to pm me as we seem to be the only ones on here!

It's Qufora, from Macgregor healthcare. Peristeen (Coloplast) and Aquaflush are two other similar products. It can only be prescribed by a specialist nurse or consultant though.

My dc tried Peristeen for nearly a month but hated it and refused to persist with it.

Qufora has been suggested, but I'm not sure whether it's worth the angst.

If I understand correctly, Peristeen washes out the lower end of the colon, higher than Qufora, which only washes out the rectum.

As dc gets blockages higher up, and doesn't ever appear to have problems with a loaded rectum, would Qufora be appropriate?

I'm beginning to get the feeling that they've gone down the list of treatments, dc hasn't responded in the way the protocol anticipates, and now they're just chucking solutions at us in the hope that one will work.

Try it and see. Qufora have a variety of products and some people don't get on peristeen but do with other irrigation systems.

In our area Qufora has to be initiated by a consultant and prescribed by them for 3 months while the patient is trained and assessed by a specialist nurse then can be passed over for the GP to issue if the improvement is assessed as adequate
