I have broken mine this weekend and am in absolute agony and the ER doc says it will last for at least 6 weeks. Its like SPD but 100 times worse

I think I only bruised mine, but that was agony enough. 18 months now and it still hurts if I sit too long in one position

Hope yours starts feeling better soon.

BigCremeEggs · 28/03/2007 19:42

OUCH!!!!

dyzzidi · 28/03/2007 19:44

Just before i get too much sympathy I have to add that i did break it taking DD aged 15mths down a slide at the weekend. I landed with a crack and dd just wanted to go again.

I only have a bruised one (got it falling downstairs while carrying DD but it is pretty sore, 10 days later).

You have a lot of sympathy from me dyzzidi.

Mercy · 28/03/2007 19:48

I had a minor fracture in my coccyx many years ago.

It really hurts - poor you.

I was told it could get worse if I was pg, but thankfully it didn't (I think - who can tell tbh!)

Do you have an inflatable ring? And avoid travelling in buses btw

It happened to me once on a camping weekend after far too much whisky. Fell down a mini cliff face while going for a pee in the dark. Effing killed.

GreenandBlackOtter · 28/03/2007 19:53

i droke mine when pg with DD - OMG it bloody hurt - like tears in eyes evey time i sat down

TheArmadillo · 28/03/2007 19:56

I did mine falling down the stairs too (with ds - he was fine luckily)

Had 6 hours straight of lectures next day. Could not get out of my chair without help by end.

dyzzidi · 28/03/2007 19:59

I tried to find a rubber ring in Asda today but no luck. My husband just keeps looking at me and laughing. i keep yelping everytime i have to stand up. i am about to go to bed to watch TV so i can lie flat

I broke mine 12 years ago. It is still uncomfortable when I drive over speed bumps and it really suffered when I was pregnant. I gave birth 6 weeks ago and it still feels out of joint and painful iykwim. I am resigned to it never being right again.

Hulababy · 28/03/2007 20:04

Very painful. Have a lot of sympathy for you. I did mine when I was about 14, fell onto the wooden arm of a sofa backwards Now, 20 years on I still get aches there if I sit in same position for too long, esp on a hard surface. It was uncomfortable and sometimes painful too when I was pregnant.

ejt1764 · 28/03/2007 20:05

I'm a long time sufferer of coccygodynia, and can empathise! I go everywhere with my coccyx cut out cushion - it's the only way I can sit for any length of time.

The following site has lots of ideas for coping with the pain ...

Madoldcatlady · 28/03/2007 22:18

Mine got broken at school many moons ago when my best mate thought it would be hilarious to pull my chair out as I sat down!

20 years later it still hurts if i sit for too long on a hard bench or similar. It fused at the most ridiculous angle and as I've got older and slimmer I can feel it sticking out. If I ever ger bed bound (God forbid!) I'll get the most awful pressure sores because it's millimitres away from the surface of my skin.[shock)

LowFatMilkshake · 28/03/2007 22:27

I hate to tel you this, but my mum fell on hers playing netball when she was at school. She complained it ached her whole life right up to when she passed away age 72.

JanH · 28/03/2007 22:31

Is it defo broken?

I fell very hard on mine, from standing, 4-5 weeks ago, and it was agony - could barely turn over in bed, my perineum was numb (new to me, having had all CS's), and bladder control was a bit dodgy too () - it is pretty much back to normal now so I hope yours will be too in the same sort of time frame, good luck!

Plibble · 28/03/2007 22:35

It is the worst pain there is. (she says, conveniently forgetting labour pains...)
I broke mine a number of years ago.
Watch out if you plan on having babies in future - my Dr claims that mine is now "prominent" and that this may have caused DD to get stuck and c/s delivery.

Madoldcatlady · 28/03/2007 22:43

I had 3 natural deliveries following mine, but I suppose if mine is stuck out rather than in the birth canal would not be compromised at all.
