Dehydration

Hiya,

What would cause everything to be dry? I'm drinking more water than usual at the moment because every morning I'm waking up with what feels like a hangover. I'm not drinking alcohol at all right now because the thought of it turns my stomach. But it's not just that. Everywhere is dry!

-my contacts keep falling out because my eyes are dry
-my skin is flaking because it's so dry (especially on my knickerline).

  • my lady parts are dry too which is making them irritated.
  • my mouth is always dry

I'm not on any medication and I'm not taking any otc except a couple of paracetamol to get rid of my headache.

Poor you. No words of wisdom to offer except a suggestion to see your GP. Hope you feel better soon.

AJGiveMeSomeSpeed · 05/08/2017 23:59

Thank you @MollyHuaCha I will have to go on Mondays now as we have no walk in service anymore so it's either wait or nothing.

I would guess hormonal?

VisitorFromAlphaStation · 06/08/2017 04:18

I think you should perhaps go and have your blood sugar tested, this said because you mention you drink more water than usual. I've read someplace this - apart from a thousand other reasons - could also be a sign of onset of diabetes. Unfortunately Google has just told me that dry skin (in various forms) is also one effect of onset of diabetes. But having dry skin can be the result of a thousand other reasons as well.

ChuffCloud · 06/08/2017 04:56

Yup would suggest hormonal, definitely a good idea to get yourself checked over just in case xx

AJGiveMeSomeSpeed · 06/08/2017 06:32

@VisitorFromAlphaStation I checked my sugars this morning and they are absolutely fine (my SIL used her test kit). I wondered about that too a bit but I'm not overweight (7st11) and have a healthy diet (ttc) that excludes caffeine, sugar and processed foods.

I'm honestly considering drinking a bottle of wine every night because I'm hungover anyway so I might as well go out and have fun!

That's quite light - maybe try getting your weight up to 8st? You can have health issues from being too thin as well as too fat.

Icewindfire98 · 06/08/2017 09:29

Also you need a certain amount of fat to concieve. My fertility dr recommended full fat milk and dairy products as fat good for hormones. Obs you don't want to be overweight but maybe just increase your weight slightly?

AJGiveMeSomeSpeed · 06/08/2017 14:16

I'm only 5ft so it gives me a bmi of 21 which is normal. I'm in 8-10 clothes which I'd say was normal especially as shops now sell in a size 4!

I went to the pharmacist for advice this lunchtime and she said to take stronger painkillers and drink more water.

Have you had your thyroid function checked lately?

mummytime · 06/08/2017 14:38

I think you need a full blood work up AND a "fasting blood sugar" test. And when the results come back get the numbers - because if your Doctor says they are normal they maybe people here who can point out where the problem could be.

loveyoutothemoon · 06/08/2017 17:13

I agree-blood tests, could be something auto-immune but not necessarily.

AJGiveMeSomeSpeed · 08/08/2017 13:01

Well I went to the gp... she said I need to drink more water. She did a urine test and blood test so waiting in those results. She weighed and measures me and said my body fat percentage is quite high so she suggested cutting out carbs and sugar as that probably making me feel dehydrated.

Huh... turns out I have a water infection and stress... ok then. Thank you for your help xx
