Ovarian cyst causing pins and needles??

I've had an ovarian cyst for many years, which had been a fairly stable size. Last year it had grown to about 5cm and by January it was 10cm. The last couple of days, I've had pins and needles in one of my legs and I think it may be starting in the other leg now too. I was just wondering if the pins and needles might be caused by the cyst - has anyone experienced this? Thanks!

No I haven't experienced that (I have a 9cm cyst). I suppose, in theory, yours could be pressing on a nerve causing the symptoms. However, I would advise seeing a medic about this, for safety's sake.

In my experience this can cause pins and needles in legs or numbness. You may need to get it checked it may have grown to a point where intervention is needed

Thanks for the responses. I have been on a waiting list since January to see a consultant and have an appointment in a month. I guess I'm debating whether a cyst could cause this and just to wait it out until my appointment next month, or if I should try and see the GP in the meantime. I suppose I might just see how it goes over the next few days and see the GP if it gets any worse. Thanks

I have had an cystectomy in May all the pain in my legs has disappeared and I've struggled for years. We also have have had fertility problems and I'm now pregnant. So glad it's gone!!

Congratulations user! That's wonderful news. What was the cystectomy like and how was the recovery? We struggled with fertility too and have one child through IVF and a second conceived days before embarking on IVF again! It seems that pregnancy caused my cyst to grow, but I have no idea what it's been up to since January!

I had mine day case and didn't get sent home with any pain relief but thankfully my dad lent me codeine. The main thing I struggled with was trapped wind, my shoulders ached and I struggled to sleep. So so glad it's gone though.

I had a 10cm cyst and often had numbness and weird sensations in my legs. My gynaecologist knew about it and wasn't concerned as it's just another symptom unfortunately.
Once you have your appointment, you'll probably be put on the urgent surgery waiting list due to your cyst size. It took forever for me to be initial seen, but once I was put on the surgery waiting list, it was just a couple of months until it was removed.
After 3 years TTC and 1 miscarriage, I'm hoping this is my chance to finally start a family. Fingers crossed!

That's really interesting. I'm fairly convinced it is related to the cyst after hearing your similar stories. I can definitely feel weirdness when I'm sitting or bending over sometimes, but it's hard to know if it's just in my head too.

Did you also have day surgery to get rid of your cyst?

Really hope your wishes come true. Years of TTC is tortuous.

Yes I had day surgery. Similar to user I struggled more with the shoulder gas pain than anything else. First few days were groggy but I was out and about after a week. Back to work after 2 weeks.

It's now 6 weeks since I had it removed and I no longer have the leg pains, no longer have bloating that made me look 7 months pregnant, and no need to wee every hour! Plus it's juts nice knowing that its gone! Hope you get seen to quickly! If you have any questions about any of it or the surgery, happy to answer. x

I dont know why they dont operate sooner when they know its causing all these symptoms. Especially affecting ability to conceive! Mines is only 4cm and still waiting on gyne apt. But it has caused me endless pain, bloating and general hinderance.

I must admit I was a bit disappointed that my appointment was so far away. My GP gave an urgent referral but it was triaged by the hospital and I was given an appointment 6 months away. I phoned to check as I'd thought it would be within 6 weeks and the Secretary explained they were trying to recruit and hoped they'd be able to offer an earlier appointment. A couple of months later I received a new appointment, a further month away! Ha! I'm trying to tell myself that they must be unconcerned about it or they'd have wanted to see me earlier.

I'm guessing they might play a bit of a waiting game with you too. I think when mine was first spotted it was about 5cm but then it shrank to 3.5cm and was then stable for a few years. I don't know if it affected much then but I did struggle to conceive all that time. Hope you don't have too long a wait.
