prozac and weird dreams

I feel like crap. I've been on prozac for nearly four months. I went to chemist A for the first 3 months, prozac was fine, doing good, slight nausea, but I can live with it. Last month I went to chemist B which has something else equivient to 20 mg of the noraml stuff and since then I've had really vivid dreams and I feel shattered. I dont feel like I am sleeping properly at all - I don't feel rested.

It got to the point where I got desperate for a good night sleep and skipped it a few nights, but I realised I really cannot do without it, so I had to start taking it again, but the lack of proper sleep is makign me feed awful and I dread goign to bed.

Interesting - I have been on Zoloft for about 3 months and, for the first 8 weeks or so it was fine (apart from initial nasuea which subsided after about 10 days).

For the past 4 weeks or so I have been having really vivid dreams. Nothing scary but so real that I have difficulty remembering what was a dream and what was something that actually happened. I am exhausted but put it down to the depression rather than the ADs.

Please don't just stop taking the Prozac. I think you should go back to your doctor. Maybe I should too!

I wish I could be more help. Sorry.

that is really interesting. my gp won't do repeat perscription, but allowed me to email her for the last lot, but next time I will go in and discuss it with her.
I know I'm better off ON the prozac, because I was really quite ill, but I have that feeling too, having to work out the next day, or even days later, what was real and what wasn't. Although the dreams aren't always that scary I find that disturbing in itself.

I was just about to add that I usually name change for 'feeling depressed' threads and wished I had as I thought what I had put made me sound like a bit of a loon(!) so I was glad to see that you are having the same problem I am (but sorry you are struggling with this too).

Maybe it is more common than we realise?

I am going to see my doctor next week, so will ask about it - I'll report back, if you like!

Kelly1978 · 28/03/2007 01:40

yeah that will be great, I will check with mine too and we can compare notes.
I haven't been with my gp long, but she seems fairly good so far, so fingers crossed.

I'm fairly upfront so I don't really care anymore. depression seems so common these days and not really something to be ashame of. At least we are seekign help.

to make certain you dont feel like a loon, we sold a load of clothes on ebay, and I had to check in the morning what we had sold for what and which emails I had replied to because I had dreamt about dealing with all of it

if you have msn, I'm on [email protected]
