WHEN THREADWORMS ATTACK...help me get this child to bed

So, its 23:50 and dd6 is in the bath as she is crying in pain when out of it because of bloody threadworms.

Whilst on holiday noticed a red rash on vagina which she said itched. she gets eczema and thought it may of flared up (she struggles iwth bedwetting aswell, so thought it may of been a wee that irritated her), when it didnt die down within two days, tried metanium, still itchy.

5 days later, she tells me this morning she has found worms in her poo. Ovex was bought and given but now there seems to be tens of them all over her anus and vagina. When she is out of the bath she is in tears as she says it hurts (i dont know if it is fighting the urge to itch or if they can actually cause pain???)

what can i do???? any short term relief?? I acn't live in the bathroom all night!

Aw bless her. Threadworms are evil. Do you have anything thick which takes a while to soak in like sudocreme or Vaseline? If you put something like that around her bum it will stop the buggers being able to crawl all over her. Tight fitting pants help too if poss, just anything you can to keep them from migrating!

Thanks StayGold. Only thing I have available is metanium so have applied that straight from the tube onto her, so quite a thick blob. Worst of it is I realised how big she is getting when i was asking her to bend over so I could check her after her bath and she just kept saying "this is so embarrassing, this is really awkward"....officially an age where she gets embarrassed infront of her mum :(

Sudocreme might be worth a shot.

I can remember DD crying with them at a similar age, but we only saw a couple.

I think you'll need to change her bedding and towels daily.

I gave dd calpol in the end, which seemed to help and the next night the ovex had worked.

She is asleep :) thanks for your suggestions, was starting to get in a bit of a "don't know how to help" flap. We watched the NHS video on threadworms earlier so she understood the cycle and importance of hygiene, last thing she said to me before nodding off was "im sorry for not washing my hands mummy"....eurgh she kills me!
