Any physios out there?

I'm having physio for an impingement in my shoulder.

Physiotherapist is asking me to do my exercises to the point of pain and then push some more through that and carry on. This is really, really hurting. It feels much worse after doing the exercises. Arm feels weak and neck feels tight.

Previously I had just done them to the point of pain and then stopped.

How far should I go with these exercises? Carry on even though it is very, very painful. Bit scared as feel like it's doing more damage than good at the moment.

Background - I am on naproxen and pregababalin - highest doses making me feel a bit spaced. Had it since March and was in agony. Had an MRI and injection last week. Injection has considerably reduced the pain. But after physio manipulation I feel so much worse.

Not a physio but have had it for years and years and have never been told to keep going through pain,in fact the complete opposite.

Thank you DameDiazepam. Like the name.
To hit the pain barrier - yes.
But to keep going through the pain is counter intuitive, isn't it?
I generally have a very high pain threshold. Am I being a wimp?
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm finding it hard to understand - the injection had taken most of pain away so that would allow me to do physio pain free.

I'm not convinced working through actual pain is good but as I said I'm not a physio. Working hard so your muscles stretch and ache, definitely but not pain as that's how you injure yourself.
