I've done something to my shoulder and now I can't even so much as pull on my pants without almost crying!!

Blush

I've had a niggily pain in my shoulder for about a week but last night it got progressively worse. In some positions it's ok just mild, hot toothacey (but in the shoulder/upper arm area if that makes sense) but if I move it certain ways it literally takes my breath away and I feel like I could be sick.

Getting dressed and going to the toilet are leaving me shaking in pain. I got changed in a busy gym changing room today and the action of pulling on my jeans made me yelp in pain (very Blush as I didn't intend to make a sound and then felt quite dramatic!!)

It feels really hot and achey tonight when not moving it (and bloody agony if I try to pull up pants/trousers) Any suggestions on what I can do to help it, or will I never be able to go to the toilet without shaking in pain again Sad

Sounds like a rotator cuff injury. Take the best painkillers you can get and see a doctor asap. If it's that, you will need rest and pain relief, then physio.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 21/07/2017 22:19

It's fixable but you need diagnosis into either a chiro or physio

You might have a nerve tapped or just a very bad Spain

Ice it
Rest
Painkillers

And if you can (I know it's not
Possible For all) throw some money at it because the NHS can be way too slow unfortunately for these things (not having a go at them but it's a fact)

Could be a frozen shoulder starting, go to see the GP as soon as possible, in the meant time take asprin for the pain if you are able to use it safely, as it's anti inflamatory.

Thanks all for replies having googled rotator cuff that sounds most likely. Do you think waiting to see GP next week would be ok, or worth popping to minor injuries tomorrow?

My work has a private Physio that I could see at a push. He's £45 for 30 mins but I might have a look around to see how that compares with anyone local.

Minor injuries might X-ray it but that's about all . But that X-ray can help so worth a try that said you probably can't catch the physio till Monday

Rest , ice and painkillers xx

I had similar with a trapped nerve. Worst pain ever and made me feel really sick and dizzy.

SwiftAnchor · 22/07/2017 00:01

Thanks, if it gets worse tomorrow I will head to minor injuries. I've never been to a minor injuries before, I wonder if I could go between dropping DD off at a party and picking her up, or if it will be an all day wait!? Grin

The pain is awful at times and mildly sore when I'm still, and I think that it's maybe getting better until I have to do the trouser pulling motion!!!

I had it in both shoulders (not simultaneously, thank god) also my DH. He had successful surgical repair. I had success with physio (private, for convenience). In the very painful phase, it was just rest and painkillers, you can take both paracetamol and ibuprofen as long as you don't have more than recommended doses. I rested my arm on a cushion sitting and in bed and kept it close to my body.
