she's 21 months, & fell off her bike. it was a pretty big gash, so we all went to casualty and she was glued/steri-stripped back together. she seems to be absolutely fine, running around after balloons & chatting away. she's gone off to nursery this morning.

but i'm a bit of a wreck. ds is a much more cautious child, & this is the first time anything like this has happened. i know logically that she's ok, but it's all a bit too emotional.

reassurance please!

She will be fine HC. If the hospital thought otherwise they would have kept her in. Nursery will keep a close eye on her today and call you if they have any concerns!

Ah hoxty, how worrying. Scalp wounds bleed so alarmingly don't they
But unless us maturer specimens, small children heal so quickly. I bet the wound will be pretty much gone in a week's time.
Am hugely impressed that she was on a bike at this young age
Dd was asking if she would see your dd this summer in Devon I had to break the woeful tidings.

thank you . i know i am being a bit crap....

she 'll ne fine. dd3 is my accident prone child. she cracked her head open last year, it was terrifying as it was a big gaping hole. i gave her calpol for a couple of days, she has a small scar by her hairline but was fine.

bran · 26/03/2007 09:41

She'll be fine, don't worry. I was often stitched back together as a child and it didn't do my any harm.

hoxtonchick · 26/03/2007 09:41

hi marina. i do have slight experience of scalp wounds as she ran into a ledge at the barbican last weekend.... the bike is ds's old trike which is too big for her.

maybe we could get small girls together in london (and boys too of course)?

thanks all. this is just between her eyes, hoping it doesn't scar too obviously.

oh dd3 has a small scar on the bridge of her nose, her bottom lip and her hairline one.

you honestly dont notice them after a while. but sounds like she has been patched together nice.

hoxtonchick · 26/03/2007 09:44

i have a scar on my forehead too .

we went to our local a&e & they were fab. dd was more impressed with the teletubbies magazine i bought her. ds thought the whole thing was a big adventure & went racing into school to tell everyone this morning.

I read that as hedge momentarily and wondered how on earth you had found such a thing in our bronze-brick urban wilderness
A meet-up would be very nice. I was v. impressed that dd remembered your dd's name , she must have made a big impression!
I also have a comparatively meek and cautious older child and a loony younger one so I absolutely sympathise
