Dark vertical line on thumb nail

Has anybody experienced this
I have a dark line on my thumb nail extending down to cuticle
Think my nail is starting to lift at the top
Had it for months but was ignoring it thinking it would go away but it seems darker now

Have they given you any idea as to what they think it is?

No they are getting me back in once they view the photographs and consult with other doctors
I am assuming it's nothing v v serious or they wouldn't wait weeks between appointments ?
Next appointments is first week in Sep

Have you had blood tests? I would ask for these if you haven'd had them already. Bloods show up any kind of inflammation within the body.

No blood tests were taken

Any update OP? Hope you are ok. My son has a line going through his nail like that too, except his is more central. Gp appointment is next week.
