Oral allergy syndrome??

Hello.
When I eat apples, plums, peaches and similar fruits (mostly apples), my mouth feels a bit swollen and itchy afterwards. I googled it and it said it could be oral allergy syndrome. Apparently, though, OAS tends to affect people with hayfever, which I don't get. Could I have oral allergy without having hay fever? It's not so serious I need to go to a GP, as I can easily avoid apples. After something like oranges I don't really get symptoms.

I have OAS but also have hay fever. You need to see a GP because it's progressive. The first time I had it with an apple my lips itches. The second time it felt like my throat was closing up!

Hm. I've had symptoms for a while and they haven't really been that progressive. I tend to avoid apples now and plums/peaches/etc aren't so widely available. So if it isn't oral allergy because of no hayfever/not really progressing then what on Earth could it be??

I find I can't eat things like that raw, but they're fine cooked. (I do get hayfever, have done for over 40 years.)

"Tends to affect people with hayfever" isn't the same as "only affects people with hayfever."

I still think you should see a GP.

I'm the same as EBearhug if the fruit is cooked or juiced I have no reaction.
