Any idea what the most effective method of mole removal is in terms of pain/scars?

Is it for health reasons or cosmetic? It depends on the size of the mole, where it is etc

Cosmetic, there are several including face, neck and back!

I had 2 removed for medical reasons. The scars are huge compared to mole size and spidery, sorry. The only good thing is they've faded to paler now. Not sure if there are different "methods" but with medical they have to dig it right out.

Ok so with cosmetic I imagine it would be much less bad as they don't have to go deep

Ahh well as you know it'll be private then, and yes - was just going to say it could leave you with a scar in place of the mole, which may not bother you on your baxk and neck but maybe would on face?

Depending on the type of mole you can have it frozen off. I've just had 2 removed, one frozen and one cauterized. The one that was burnt off has left a tiny white mark, barely visible. The one that was frozen has left a more apparent mark but was done more recently so will give it time.

In terms of healing the burnt off one was slightly less sore. I've had others cut out- they've left spidery marks so avoid if the type of mole means you can

Does burning/cauterising them make them grow back or are they gone for good? I think a scar would be better than a mole but I'm not sure !

I have had a mole removed from my face (lower lipline) and it is perfect- you can't see a thing. Plastic surgeon did it privately. Cost around £600.
Previously I'd had it treated with liquid nitrogen at drs and it grew back.
When it was cut off I had 3 stitches for a week. It was not large- about 2-3 mm diameter.

Basically you need to consult a plastic surgeon, have a consultation and see what they suggest as best treatment.

The one I had burned was on my shoulder. It had grown quite a bit and I was catching it on clothes and it was bleeding quite a bit.
Sorry to be gross but when the doctor went to cut it away it basically fell off, it was the bits that remained that were burnt. The bits that fell off were sent away and there were slightly abnormal cells in it. I've been advised to keep an eye on the scar to make sure nothing regrows. Nothing so far but this was fairly recent

I had one on my face burnt off, it has left a visible white mark, which never tans and is hard to cover with make up, I think I preferred the mole, but it needed to be done ( was done on NHS)

I had a mole removed a year ago. The removal was pretty quick and relatively easy. I had taken the mole removal procedure from a clinic in Barrie( www.lakeviewsurgery.com/cosmetic-surgical-procedures/mole-removal/ ). It took 15-30 minutes for the procedure. It was a simple surgery with minimal invasion and scarring. The key is go to a registered clinic and consult a certified dermatologist. You should be fine.

I'm seeing on of our GPs - a skin specialist - later this week to have a large mole at the top of my leg removed. It catches on my clothes (trouser seams, tights etc) and really needs to go.

It's quite big, maybe 1cm diameter and very raised. Been the same for the last 50 odd years and only now have I plucked up courage to get it removed.

I booked in to have it done a couple of months ago and cancelled the appointment as I was bricking it too much. I'm worried about the wound healing.
