Aches and pains in joints

Appletree4 · 12/07/2017 00:11

Hi
I'm now 6 months postnatal and for the last 3months or so I have had achey stiff joints especially in my thumbs feet and knees and it's worse in the morning and evenings/night

Anyone else experienced this? Is it common?
Don't want to bother the Gp unnecessarily!

Cheers girls Smile

Blimey. I'm the same. Got a GP appointment about it in a few weeks. I feel like I'm 70!

Phew nice to know I'm not the only one...but it sounds like it is just the 2 of us!!

I'd be interested to know what your Gp suggests.

Do you have arthritis or anything like that in your family? My mum has had it from a relatively young age

I was exactly the same!! Get along to the doctors. It will probably be nothing except your body reacting and readjusting to having had a baby, and reacting to sleepless nights and lots of lifting, bending etc. Our bodies go through a lot creating wonderful little people, and sometimes just need a bit of time😊. Put your mind at rest.

I thought that that was all that was the matter with me, but as I left it and gradually felt more stiff, achy and ancient in mornings and after sitting still for feeding sessions (and tired out!!) and knowing my mum had arthritis, I popped to GP. In my case it was arthritis, and athough it took a while to come to terms with, I'm on the right medication and it's well under control at the moment. I just wish I hadn't struggled on so long feeling rubbish when there could be something to help my joints and give me the ability to play on the floor with my little one.

I'm not saying that just because your mum has arthritis, you will- doesn't work like that, but if your joints are annoying you get it checked out. That's what they are there for. My GP ruled out other things first. Could be something really straight forward, and easily sorted.

Best of luck, hope you get on ok 💐.

Aw thanks redrobinonspade that's really helpful. It doesn't actually stop me doing anything I just feel like everything seizes up in my legs over night - like I can hardly walk down the stairs first thing - but then it quickly resolves. I feel more aches in my thumbs throughout the day than anywhere else.
I think I will see the GP as time has ticked on and there's not really been any progress - and like you say it's important to identify things early to give yourself the best chance

Thanks again for the advice ladies x

I was in loads of achey pain and went to the doctors, turns out I had a vitamin D deficiency! Been taking some tablets for a few weeks now & feel loads better

Redrobinonspade · 16/07/2017 20:27

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Appletree4 · 16/07/2017 20:30

Exactly - could be something simple!

Will let you know. Would also be good to hear back from you user148....

How are you getting on OP?

PootlewasthebestFlump · 01/08/2017 13:56

It can be thyroid, b12 or vitamin d deficiency. Best to get checked.
