Would being in pain be worthy of a same day GP appointment?

I kniw its definitely not an emergency or anything to go to a and e but I'm in a lot of pain at the moment. I've been referred to a rheumatologist over a month ago and no appointment yet but I don't think I can wait till then since I'm in a lot of pain. They think I have Fibromyalgia. So far I've been taking OTC cocodamol and naproxen but they're not doing anything at all. The gp waiting list is over a month and I'm a bit sick of it. Could I possibly ask them for a same day appointment on Monday? If I can't then I can't but I just wanted to know. Also in the middle if changing gps since mines aren't great. Thank you Smile

Oddly enough (or not) I had a similar fluoxetine experience. When I had my DS i had to be switched to fluoxetine as it was safer during pregnancy. It was horrible it made me so anxious but sertraline really helped me. Although sertraline isn't normally the first choice AD for fibro you may need an increase in dosage to have any pain killing benefits along with other medications in treatments. What dosage are you currently on? xx

I'm currently on 75mg. They don't have 75mg capsules I don't think so I take one and a half 50mg tablets

You may need to have the dosage raised it that case, have another AD added such as Amitryptiline, Nortriptyline or Duloxetine, or maybe be on a combination of 2 or more. Gabapentin and Pregabalin are fine to take with any combination. I know someone who takes 200mg of Sertraline, 50mg of Ami, and 600mg of Pregabalin and she hasn't had any problems with that combo. Only another 5 hours and you can ring them anyway OP. You need to kind of push doctors for treatment of fibro, especially if they're clueless on how to treat it. Let us know how it gets on xx

Got prescribed 15/500 cocodamol by the nurse who was a lot more helpful than the doctor I seen last week. Thanks again to everyone who answered Flowers

That's great hun. At least you're working up the ladder and finding out which treatments work best for you. Try the strobger ones for a while and if they dont work there are ither options availabke treatment and medication wise xx
