Went to my GP who was non plussed by my symptoms and said if he had a penny for every middle aged women who wanted peri -menopausal and thyroid function check, he'd be a rich man!
Who would I go to for blood tests and dietary/supplement advice - a nutritional therapist or just a private general physician.
I live in Manchester, so any Recs would be appreciated.
My GP made me feel like I was wasting NHS time which I kind of get but equally feel like I need health MOT.
I'm 45, have been losing a lot of hair, eat really well, minimal white crabs, veg, fruit and exercise 4 x week with strength training, HIIT. I do drink 2-3 nespresso pods per day which are my weakness.

The problem with just seeing a regular GP privately or endocrinologist, is that they will still be following the same guidelines and pretty much share the same beliefs. You'll probably get the test but that will be that. They won't look much further if it's normal.

Look to see if there are any functional / ecological medicine doctors nearby who will look into everything.

The Doctor from 'Doctor in the House' works in Manchester!

The website says that there is waiting list, but if you look on the clinic page it says it should be open by spring 2017, so it may be outdated.
Worth a phonecall.

Perimenopause is not an illness, but it can have unpleasant symptoms. Some people get relief from some symptoms with HRT. To my knowledge, the menopause is not a life threatening illness.
Hypothyroid is a medical issue that can seriously screw you up if it's not treated. I would rule out any thyroid problems first. If it's not your thyroid, then great, check for other causes.
