temp of 103 following second tripple @ 12 weeks

my ds2 had his second tripple yesterday at 3pm. In the night he has been squeeling (very strange noise) and seemed in pain when touched. Have given calpol and its not taking the temp down and he really does seem to cry MORE when he is picked up or moved/touched in anyway? When should I worry, ds1 sailed through his jabs and ds2 was fine when he had his first lot

I'd take him in this morning if I were you, spikeycat, just to put your mind at rest. Especially if Calpol isn't bringing his temperature down. XX

Crying when picked up I think is one of the things they say to see your doc about.

I would nip him down to the doctors just to get some peace of mind

hazlinh · 12/07/2004 11:07

I agree. strange crying, high temp, pain, all sounds like you shd Definitely head down to the doctor's. Even if it's nothing, better to be safe than sorry.

jampot · 12/07/2004 11:10

ANother vote for going to the doctors

Jimjams · 12/07/2004 11:20

Go to your doctors. 103 is a high temp for a 12 week old. He may tell you to use nurofen or give more calpol than recomended but he definitely needs to be seen.

Jimjams · 12/07/2004 11:21

BTW did you have DTwP or DTaP- asl the dr if its a reaction to the P bit and he was gven DTwP- then the risk of it happening again with the third jab can be reduced by giving DTaP

spikeycat · 12/07/2004 11:26

god knows what he had! He just had the norm, one injection in each leg, and then the drops on his tounge. He has gone back to bed now but when he wakes up I will pop him down the docs, poor little thing

I'm sick of pumpimg all this crap into my kids, the next big worry is MMR for ds1.

I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks everyone

OK he'll almost certainly have had have had DTwP then. Ask the dr which part of the jab is likely to have caused the problems. If he says the pertussis part (most likely for this sort of reaction) then ask whether it would be more sensible to have DtaP next time (if you decide to do a next time).

spikeycat · 12/07/2004 15:01

have checked his temp and its gone down a little, should I still call them, he still cries if you touch him

Yes he needs to be seen today. I'd ring urgently.

Beccarollover · 12/07/2004 23:58

How is he spikey cat?

Jimjams · 13/07/2004 14:15
