Hello...my health visitor has given me the current vaccination schedule for my baby at 8, 12 and 16 weeks and it seems to have grown! At one point he gets 3 injections at once. Can anyone give me any reassurance about the potential for side effects and any advice as to how to make it less distressing for him.(soft touch!) Have vaccinations become safer..the HV says she hasn't seen any serious side effects for 5 years now. (although they didn't mention serious side effects when my daughter had her jabs 7 years ago!.

Hi,
Its never never nice taking them for the vaccinations, but you have to consider how bad the actual diseases would be if your child got those. Kids have died in the last few years because they have got measles from not having!
I agree about it being a lot. mine had the three on one day plus polio drops too!
the thing is to try and stay calm. Its likely the baby will cry, and it hard for you to be prepared for this. Have a bottle ready or feed him rignt away afterwards, its a comfort. also a good cuddle helps a lot!
I have taken several children as a nanny and also my own three. It never gets easier, but you know its the right thing to do.
Afterwards a good dose of calpol to keep temperatures at bay is a good idea. Mine did have reactions but only slight and always over very fast. Give calpol BEFORE the reaction, do not wait for it to happen!

Lastly be brave! you are doing the right thing...and its all over very fast1 they have it down to a fine art!
