Napping

Ok so hear me out. Ever since I was a teen I have napped at sometime during the day if possible. This includes whilst at uni, working full, partime, no kids, kids and so on. Now Im in my 30s and I shut my eyes during the day at least 4 times a week. Out of curiosity, does anyone else do this?

I love a nap but unfortunately can only really fit in one a week at the moment.

kippersandcurtains · 29/06/2017 22:20

Only whilst pregnant. When not, i certainly get tired in the day (3:30pm it peaks) but don't nap. I'm either working or looking after kids & it wouldn't occur to me if I wasn't.
Sleep rhythms are habitual though aren't they? Hard to break a sleep habit.

YogaYogiChocoholic · 29/06/2017 22:25

I'm a nap queen. I will always have a nap if there's any chance if it. I drift off easily, don't wake up groggy and sleep perfectly well come bedtime. I'm mid 30's and have done it since I was 18, through jobs (would nap in my office or car), pregnancies, kids etc etc. Some of us are born nappers! I don't get it when people say they can't nap Confused

Wish I could take a nap in the day :( They're good for you, apparently are natural sleep routine would be biphasic and I think most of us feel that urge around 3pm. Maybe on maternity leave I will manage it if 2 year old DD will still nap well :)

Will do if I get the chance. I love a nap!

Izzy24 · 29/06/2017 22:42

Always nap for 15 mins in the services on a long car journey.

And any other time I can manage!

KPHJB · 29/06/2017 22:48

Good to know I'm not alone 😃

I really wish I could nap. But any time I tried it I woke up like a zombie and felt a bit out of it and queasy for a while. Not a good thing!

But each to their own. I envy people who can nod off at ease during the day, I wish I could.

DoneInn · 30/06/2017 14:57

I do envy nappers. I can only sleep during the day if I am really I'll and then only if properly tucked up in bed in a dark room. Otherwise it's impossible. I long to sleep on long journeys at unsocial hours. DH could fall asleep stood on one leg Envy

I luurrvvveee napping. When I was at high school I would regularly nap after school. That was probably cos I would stay up late watching telly. Throughout uni I was renowned for being able to fall asleep anywhere. I still nap now and sometimes it's out of necessity cos I don't sleep well at night so will have a catch up nap. I know I shouldn't but will probably do so couple of times a week. I have a half day on a Thursday and an avo nap is my little treat. I might also have one at the weekend but that is usually cos I am a bit hung over.

helzapoppin2 · 07/07/2017 22:24

Oh god, yes! I don't do it every day, but after I have, I have so much more energy for the rest of the day, it's like having two separate days.
I like that new word, biphasic!

skyzumarubble · 07/07/2017 22:25

Oh god yes if I get the chance which is rare!

mollymcmuffin · 07/07/2017 23:03

Yes! I love them and have even converted my nap-dismissing husband into having them.

Currently have a toddler and a 6 week old and really missing my lunchtime nap but going to really try hard for an eventual tandem nap us all Grin

mollymcmuffin · 07/07/2017 23:03

My whole family are nappers, my parents worked night shifts for years so I wonder if that has contributed.

Tootsiepops · 07/07/2017 23:06

Love a nap. Would have one every day if I could.
