... on a dialysis machine and hooked up to various things keeping her alive . I just don't understand how this can happen. Does anyone know anything about kidneys, dialysis etc.

The birth was quite traumatic, she was induced and then tore quite badly and the baby poohed inside her when he was coming out. She seemed fine though and baby was fine, came home the next day and all was well. Had a call from her husband yesterday to say she had been having terrible sickness and diarrhoea during Tuesday night and kept passing out so he called an ambulance. She's been in intensive care since then.

I'm just so shocked, she is part of my ante-natal group, her elder daughter is six, the same age as mine.

Just to say thinking of your friend and all her family and of course you. How very sad and stressful, it certainly sounds like some sort of infection. Wishing her a safe and speedy recovery. xx

any more news from her? Hope things are ok.

sandyballs · 26/03/2007 16:56

Good news - she is out of intensive care and breathing unaided . We are all so thrilled, it looks like she is out of the woods. Still don't know exactly what caused it.
