my quesiton is, should I be worrying about dd3 or will she still have immunity from being in my tummy and being exclusively breastfed.

dd2 is 23 months
dd1 is 6 weeks
Thanks in advance

Trinity I have read different things about breastfed children and cp, but most seemed to suggest that immunity was quite effective

ds has been exposed to it many times and never caught it yet (he was breastfed until v recently as you know) - I have a feeling he may be coming down with it too!

Hope dd2 is ok and that dd3 doesn't get it

ledodgy · 21/03/2007 22:21

If you're bf and have had chicken pox yourself chances are dd3 will NOT get it.

crunchie · 21/03/2007 22:22

no I don't think it is dangerous to a baby, more to pg women. Check with your GP if ou are worried

TrinityRhino · 21/03/2007 22:22

I had it when I was a young so that means I'm immune doesn't it?

more annoying than dangerous, well thats good to hear, still hope she doesn't get it

DD got chicken pox when she was 6 weeks, kindly passed on by DS who had it when she was 4 weeks.

I was told what to look out for in DD that could be dangerous but she was fine.

I was told my many people that she wouldn't get it as she was exclusovely breastfed, but she got it (and although she got spotty, didn't get too bothered).

thanks for sharing your experience idris

It is more likely to be dangerous if child contracts it when they are newborn (I think this was a matter of days rather than weeks)

IdrisTheDragon · 21/03/2007 22:25

DS was 23 months when he had it by the way
