Blood thinning injections - lump, bruise and pain?!

Hi all, I'm currently taking Fragmin while on bedrest in pregnancy. During the night I tried to sleep on my right side but was so painful on my thigh where I did an injection 2 nights ago. It's ever so painful, there's a lump at the injection site and it's purple at the skin.

I googled side effects and it said to immediately call a doctor if I experience this?! I called NHS 111 and waiting for a doctor to call me back but I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience?

Every other time I've been injecting it's been fine but this one particular site feels like it's burning my thigh and the lump is really painful to touch.

I was on these for just over six months, though I injected in my stomach rather than thigh. (I wasn't pregnant!) I had a few nasty purple bruises and lumps when I injected it too quickly or too close to the skin. Are you waiting ten seconds before removing the needle at the end?

I hope the doctor was able to reassure you Flowers

Hi and thanks for replying @WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo Smile I pull them out straight away, maybe that's where I'm going wrong then?! Should I rub the injection site afterwards or leave as is?

The 111 doctor said just to go to the GP today if I really want to get it checked out but apart from that didn't seem too concerned.

My son has to have fragmin and the nurses always say not to rub it afterwards as it makes it more likely to bruise. He's never had lumps, but some very painful bruises as he's only tiny.

I developed a lump at the injection site while on fragmin. My haematologist told me it was a haematoma and just to inject elsewhere in future. He wasn't particularly concerned. Hope this reassures you, but you should still get checked out.

Do not rub it. If it bleeds a bit then press it gently but otherwise leave well alone.

It's very tempting to pull it out straight away, but the nurse who showed me how to do them in hospital said to count to ten first.

Are you also injecting it slowly? Injecting too fast also makes it more prone to bruising (and hurts!)

I hope it stops hurting soon Flowers

I had a c section and injected my arm for 5 days after being discharged from hospital with blood thinning medicine. I stopped that about 3 weeks ago but still have some bruises from it and above one is a small lump under the skin. Any ideas on what this is and if I should be concerned?
