I have to give my son 15ml of gaviscon with every feed, official advice was to use a spoon which was a nightmare. I'm currently using a little syringe but very little seems to be getting into him. Any tips?

Try it in 3 goes 5ml each with the syringe. Try & get the syringe in the side of his mouth and then quite far back before you squirt. Put your fingers lightly under his chin by his throat so he has to swallow and keep his mouth shut.
It's not easy I know. Bl**dy nightmare actually. Good Luck

aaagh, this brings back memories, i had to do this a few months ago with dd. if you can get an even bigger syringe, it would be bonus too. if its any help, dd used to seem to spit lots of it out despite me doing all that IAIW has recommended but her reflux gradually settled and now she is 7 months and onto bottles, its so much easier to add the powder.

also, have you thought about a trying it in a bottle? didnt work for us but maybe worth a try.
good luck

Thanks both.

I did try a bottle, but gave up quite quickly. He wont even take milk from a bottle so i don't know why i even tried really!!

Will try the tips next time!

does your lo use a dummy? You can get medicine dummies from mothercare (they dont seem to have them online though so you'd have to check instore)

Nightmare!

My DS is 4 months too and I've had to give him abs, but only 5 mls 4 times a day luckily.

I used a syringe in the side of his mouth, dispensing it very, very slowly.

It did take a couple of minutes each time..

I looed for a medicine dummy (he doesn't take one normally so it may not have worked anyway) but the chemists I went to (mostly Boots) didn't have any.

All best,

forgot to say, gillhowe, that after a couple of months, i started giving dd the syringe to play with and then squirted the plunger - she seemed to accept it this way as she had chosen to put it in her mouth!
