Hi, I'm trying to find answers and to see if anyone else shares the struggles I have. Have been in immense pain for the past ten months with a feeling that 1) my pelvis is falling apart and 2) a stabbing pain through my bowel as if someone were drilling about 4 inches away from from bottom hole. Several times I have passed out going to the toilet due to the pain. I've had an ultrasound and it was clear, 2 MRIS have shown my back is fine. The colorectal surgeon ruled out cancer and has passed me to gynae and gynae have passed me to pain clinic. Prolapse and endometriosis both ruled out.ive been told the wait for this is 4 months but that they will look at treating the pain not diagnosing it. I'm currently onmatrifen fentanyl patches 25 mg and 12 mg as well as naproxen (2 a day) gabapentin 300mg (12 a day) citalopram 30mg a day and the combined pill. Any shared experiences or advice welcome. I'm a mum of 3 and my third was nearly 10 pounds 7 years ago. I've always had a sensitive pelvis since she was born but it's suddenly unbearable. TIA

I have some experience of pelvic pain . I think you need to go and see a specialised women's health physiotherapist specialising in pelvic pain and manual therapy ( I know a fantastic one in London if you want to pm me ) . This site is useful www.pelvicphysiotherapy.com/manual-therapy/ and may have details of other physios if you aren't in London . Also the book "Heal pelvic pain " by Amy Stein is very informative and has lots of information, including self help techniques.

Have you had a laparoscopy to rule out endometriosis? It is the only way to know for sure, as it rarely shows on an MRI or other scan.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to take a look at that book. I'm seeing my physiotherapist tomorrow so I will see if they are a specialist in pelvic pain and if not will ask if there is someone in the practice that is. I'm in York but thanks for the offer of details for one in London. Keep your fingers crossed for me! Smile

Hi Mountain Dweller, No I've not had a laparoscopy. The gynae did however state that yoga, swimming and taking the pill back to back with no break may help, then commented that this was advice she also gives her endometriosis patients. To be honest I'm waiting for her official notes to go to my GP so we can understand her rationale. You don't always question things at the time, it's always afterwards when it's sunk in and I've thought a bit more that the questions appear! Thanks for raising that point though - as I didn't know what a laparoscopy was until i just googled it - which gives me another question for my GP. Thanks for your insight. Smile
