Diatasis recti

I've had this for 8 years now following the birth of dd. It get better between pregnancies after keeping up with physio & at home abdominal exercise.
I'm now 11/12 weeks pregnant with dc 4 and it's got so much worse.
I look about 7 months pregnant, I've got a huge bulge at the top of my belly button, hideous back/shoulder pain and were the muscles have stretched out to I keep getting really sharp muscle pain all the way down my torso.
Doctors aren't interested and said it will happen again and there's nothing I can do.
I can't pick my 16 month up because I feel as though I'll drop him and I have no idea how I'm going to get through the next 6 months.
I'm not so bothered about how awful it looks but I'm sick to the back teeth of people telling me I look ready to pop when I'm only in the first and the trimester and the pain I'm in.
Anyone have any advice or had this?
I'm tempted to go private and see if I can have the operation done to stitch me back up but unsure if this can be done whilst pregnant? Although I assume I'd only 'un stitch' as I got further along?!

I can't imagine that could do that op when pg. You have my sympathies. I had this after my first pg but didn't realise for many years. Could some kind of bump support help? See GP or self refer to physio?

Ouch, sounds painful. I've got diastasis recti from two pregnancies and was actually attempting to buy clothes today and it really got me down. If you're in pain and already splitting that much then I think you need to push for a referral to physio. Is your midwife onside? Doctors like to fob off pregnant women about most things non-baby related; make a fuss and refuse to be ignored! In the meantime, definitely avoid picking anything up as much as poss and don't go from lying to sitting without rolling sideways and using your hands. I'm sure you know all that though.

Also try prenatal Pilates and find someone experienced with diastasis?

I had this during my second pregnancy..I just put up with it and now wished I'd got some help.j think a bump band might help to give support to your hips and lower back as I was given one of these after birth to help knit the tummy muscles together

Try the mutu system. I took mine from a 6cm gap down to 1cm with it. And it's easy

I got it with dd4. I started post-partum Pilates 6 weeks after she was born and it was 4cm. After another 6 weeks it was down to 2 and I'm neither sporty nor a pre-preggy Pilates expert. I love it and 9 months post-party's it's totally gone. Now my belly is cake-only Wink x
