My DD had a juvenile brain tumour (low grade). It was a truly terrible time but 2 operations later she was ok, cured. She's grown up now, it's almost 20 years ago. She's just been referred back to neurology and an urgent MRI scan following a routine eye test. I'm literally sick with terror, I can't talk myself down. I can't believe it's back after so long but neither can I think of any other rational explanation why this is going to be nothing. I somehow need to find a way to support her through whatever is coming, but I'm heartsick, I just can't bear it for her or me. It's enough already what she went through, too much, it's just unbearable if there's more.

Just read your thread. What a horrible thing to go through but it sounds like a good outcome under the circumstances. Really hope she is recovering nicely, and well done that optician.

PanickedMum · 21/07/2017 07:08

She is doing well. It's her birthday today and we are taking her out for lunch and maybe she can go home tomorrow.

Happy birthday, PanikedMum's DD. Wishing you a lovely day and hope you have a speedy recovery, fast and painless recovery and full healing. Hopefully you can get home soon and celebrate in style.
Flowers and Wine for mum. What a worrying time for you all.

I've only just seen this thread. How utterly stressful for you and your daughter! I hope she now has a speedy recovery and a really lovely birthday. 🌷🎂🎉

PanickedMum · 21/07/2017 19:27

Thank you for all your good wishes. We had a lovely lunch and she's gone home! She can celebrate her 1st wedding anniversary on Sunday at home with her lovely husband and we can all get some much needed sleep. It has been an intense couple of weeks for all of us, the hospital was over an hour and a half away and it will be a relief not to be driving up and down the motorway in a high state of anxiety every day and existing on Costa. We just have to wait now and hope it's working but all looks positive so far.

panickedmumI have read your story with baited breath, so glad that they were able to identify what the problem was, treat her and she is able to go to her anniversary at home. The medical staff in neuro are stars aren't they? So glad also that she had a routine eye check and that the eagle-eyed optician alerted her GP and it got the ball rolling. By far the better way. Good luck to her and you.

PanickedMum · 23/07/2017 20:54

She's back in hospital today. She woke up with an excruciating headache and vomiting. A CT scan shows the ventricles are bigger again than the day after surgery. No idea what will happen now, we will know more tomorrow when the consultant is back in.

Thinking of you all. I can't begin to imagine how hard this must be.

Summerswallow · 23/07/2017 22:38

What a shame, I'm so sorry you are on this roller-coaster. Hoping tomorrow will bring some certainty and some better news.

Babbitywabbit · 23/07/2017 23:32

PanickedMum · 27/07/2017 19:31

I brought her home to my house this afternoon, she's doing a lot better and fingers crossed it looks like it might just have been taking some time to settle down. What a roller coaster we've been on but so very thankful for the clever and dedicated professionals who have helped her again and mindful of others who have not been so blessed.
